How does therapy work?
Our initial meeting, or assessment, is an opportunity for me to gain a good understanding of your present difficulties and what factors may have led up to them. I will also collect some background information about you in this appointment and explore your resources and interests that will be vital to consider in the therapy. At the end of the assessment, I will provide you with some recommendations about potential next steps. You are then invited to decide whether you feel we could be a good fit and hence whether you would like to go ahead with the therapy.
An assessment report can be produced on request (please refer to my fees section for costs).
Once we have agreed on a therapy plan together, I typically suggest arranging a certain number of therapy sessions before pausing to review how it is going. Depending on the outcome of the review, further sessions can then be arranged.
If EMDR is being used in the therapy, it can be beneficial to book in one (or more) double sessions to move through the process at a more advantageous rate. I will raise this option at the appropriate time in our work together.
You are able to request a clinical letter or report at any stage of the therapy if this could be helpful (please refer to my fees section for costs).
It is usual that the final therapy session is planned together and worked towards, however you are of course, free to terminate the therapy at any point.

Fees
Please find my fees below. You will see they are typical for an experienced independent Clinical Psychologist, although I am able to consider individual circumstances. I am also registered with a number of private medical insurance companies so please do get in touch to see if your insurer is able to cover the cost of therapy. Please be aware that you may be able to access free therapy through the NHS. Your GP will be able to advise you should this option be preferable.
Initial assessment (face to face or online) - £180 (90 minutes)
Therapy session (face to face or online) - £120 (50 minutes)
Double therapy session (for EMDR; face to face or online) - £240 (one hour and 40minutes).
Report and letter writing - £120 per 50 minutes pro rata.

Risk
I work as an independent clinician therefore, I can not offer an effective crisis service. As a consequence, I am unable to work with individuals who are currently harming themselves, reporting suicidal thoughts or experiencing an eating disorder. If you are facing such difficulties, please can I invite you to contact your GP to explore a possible referral onto local Statutory Services, where a multi-disciplinary team is likely to better meet your needs.
